‘Amaechi Set To Reject ADC Presidential Primary Result, Approach Court’
Former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, is reportedly set to reject the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election.
Naija News reports that the primary reportedly produced former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the winner.
Sources within the party who spoke with Sahara Reporters said Amaechi, who contested the primary, was dissatisfied with the conduct and outcome of the exercise.
Party insiders said the former governor considered the process flawed and not a true reflection of the will of delegates.
According to them, Amaechi has begun consultations on possible legal action to challenge the result.
An insider told SaharaReporters, “Atiku will emerge as the winner of the ADC primary election, and Amaechi is set to reject the result.
“Amaechi is also considering taking legal action over the issue.”
If Amaechi proceeds to court, the move could deepen divisions within the ADC after the conclusion of its presidential primary.
The party’s presidential primary had three major contenders, Atiku, Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Hayatu-Deen Also Rejects Process
Earlier, Hayatu-Deen rejected the primary process, alleging widespread electoral manipulation and irregularities across the country.
He said he would not attend the official declaration of results.
In a post on his 𝕏 handle on Tuesday, Hayatu-Deen wrote, “I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today.
He wrote, “I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps.”
