Losing APC Presidential Ticket To Tinubu Affected My Faith – Amaechi
Former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has shared that his loss at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary had a deep effect on his personal life and faith.
Naija News reports that in an interview on Arise TV, he said the defeat to President Bola Tinubu did not only affect him politically but also led him into a period of spiritual doubt.
Amaechi explained that after the primary election, his thoughts were more on the condition of the country than on his personal disappointment.
He said he became troubled by the hardship faced by Nigerians and began to question why suffering continued despite constant prayers across the country. This inner struggle, according to him, affected his usual prayer life.
He admitted that he stopped attending regular prayer sessions with his spiritual guide during that period.
The former governor said his concerns about Nigeria made him withdraw and reflect deeply on the situation, which created distance in his spiritual routine.
“I began to ask God, ‘God, do you honestly believe that Nigerians should continue to suffer?’ And then it affected my faith a bit, I stopped praying“, Amaechi said.
The former Rivers Governor also shared that his spiritual guide later reached out to him after noticing his absence. During their discussion, his concerns about the nation and his doubts about prayer were addressed, and he was reminded about faith and acceptance in matters beyond human control.
