D’Tigress Drawn With France, Hungary, Korea For 2026 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been handed a demanding path at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, after being drawn alongside France, Hungary and South Korea in Group B.

The draw places Nigeria straight into early tests against some of the strongest teams in women’s basketball. France arrived as the standout side in the group, sitting second in the world rankings and widely tipped to finish top.

Nigeria, ranked eighth globally, headed into the tournament eager to prove their growing reputation on the biggest stage.

Hungary and South Korea add further intrigue to the group. Both teams sit outside the top ten but carry the pedigree and unpredictability capable of reshaping the standings.

Head coach Rena Wakama guided Nigeria to qualification after the team secured a historic fifth consecutive AfroBasket crown last year. That achievement confirmed D’Tigress as Africa’s dominant force and booked their ticket to the global showpiece.

Elsewhere, hosts Germany headline Group A alongside Japan, Spain and Mali. Group C features Belgium, Australia, Puerto Rico and Turkey.

Defending champions United States will begin their title defence in Group D against China, the Czech Republic and Italy.

The competition will take place in Berlin from September 4 to 13, 2026, where the world’s best sides will battle for global supremacy.
