Rovers Players Suffer Internal Bleeding After Team Bus Crash En Route To Lagos
The team manager of Rovers FC of Calabar, Edem Oyom, has revealed that several players are battling internal bleeding after the club’s vehicle crashed on Monday morning while travelling to Lagos for a league fixture.
The accident happened at Okada Junction when the vehicle conveying the team lost control and tumbled off the road.
One unnamed player was said to be in a critical condition immediately after the crash, while others sustained deep cuts and multiple injuries. Club officials, including Oyom, were also hurt.
“But I have to buckle up. I can tell you that the very critical one is now medically stabilised,” Oyom said as quoted by Daily Post.
“Many others, too, are responding to medical attention. But there are still other concerns.
“They are suffering from internal bleeding according to medical personnel who attended to them at the facility in Okada town, Edo State.
“For better and intensive attention, we have evacuated them this morning to Asaba in Delta State where we trust we’ll get better medical attention.”
Oyom said the club is working around the clock to ensure the players are stabilised and receive the best possible care.
Naija News gathered that Rovers FC was travelling to Lagos for a scheduled fixture against Sporting Lagos FC when the incident occurred.
