Mbappe Backs Neymar For 2026 World Cup Despite Brazil Omission

France international, Kylian Mbappe has voiced a strong belief that Neymar will still feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the Brazilian star was left out of the latest national squad.

The Brazil national football team, coached by Carlo Ancelotti, recently named players for upcoming fixtures against France and Croatia. Neymar was absent, with Ancelotti explaining that the Santos FC forward is not yet fully fit.

“I observe everything, I listen to everything. But my role is to make decisions. Normally, everyone can have an opinion, because football isn’t a university… football isn’t an exact science. Everyone has their opinion, and I have to respect everyone’s opinion,” Ancelotti told reporters, as per ESPN.

Naija News reports that the omission disappointed the 32-year-old Brazil international, who admitted he felt sad not to be selected.

Mbappe, now with Real Madrid, has thrown his support behind his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate, insisting the World Cup would feel incomplete without him.

“Neymar is Neymar. The World Cup is for world stars, and he will be there,” Mbappe told Ge. Globo, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“I can not imagine a World Cup without Ney, but I won’t go against Ancelotti. I’m sure Ney will get ready.”
