Trump Says Iran Sent Oil Related Gift To Pave Way For Diplomatic Talks

United States President Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that Iran gave the United States a mystery gift related to oil and gas that has helped diplomatic efforts to end the war.

Trump, however, refused to reveal what the present was but told reporters in the Oval Office that it had arrived on Tuesday and was of tremendous value.

“They gave us a present, and the present arrived today. It was a very big present, worth a tremendous amount of money, and I’m not going to tell you what the present is, but it was a very significant prize,” Trump said.

He said the gift was “oil and gas related” and connected to “the flow, to the Strait,” referring to the Strait of Hormuz.

Naija News gathered that Trump said the gift proved Iranian negotiators were willing to keep their promises.

“They gave it to us, and they said they were going to give it, so that meant one thing to me: we’re dealing with the right people. They’re the only ones that could have done it,” Trump said.

Additionally, Trump described recent developments in Iran as “regime change.”

“We have, really, regime change. This is a change in the regime, because the leaders are all very different than the ones that we started off with that created all those problems,” he said.

Trump’s comments came as he backed down on his earlier threat to destroy Iran’s power plant if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened after he claimed Iran and the US are engaged in “productive talks”.

Iran has blocked oil passage through the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a global energy crisis. Iran’s foreign minister said Saturday that Tehran had only closed the passage to vessels with ties to the United States and Israel.
