My Parents Warned Me – Eucharia Anunobi Opens Up On Failed Marriage

Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi, has spoken on the difficult moments she faced during her former marriage to Charles Ekwu, revealing that the union was filled with emotional and financial strain.

Naija News reports that the actress shared her experience during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where she became emotional while talking about the challenges she encountered during her marriage.

During the discussion, Anunobi made it clear that the account she was giving about the relationship was true. She addressed her former husband directly while recounting what happened between them.

Anunobi explained that even though her parents had warned her about the marriage, she still chose to continue with it.

She said she believed the relationship would eventually improve and hoped the promises made to her at the beginning of the marriage would become reality.

According to her, she remained hopeful because her husband had assured her that he would stand by her in both good and difficult times. However, things did not turn out the way she expected.

The actress said the situation later became very challenging, as she found herself handling most of the responsibilities in the home.

She explained that the burden of running the household fell mainly on her shoulders during the marriage.

Anunobi also revealed that her parents had earlier warned her that the relationship might not work, but she decided to continue with it despite their concerns.

She said the experience was painful because she felt she carried the financial responsibilities alone throughout the period they were married.

She said, “Charles Ekwu, if you see this video, know that I am not lying against you. I still held onto the marriage believing we would be fine. He said he would be there through thick and thin. My parents told me the man was not right for me. I was the one doing everything. Charles never brought one naira.”

In other news, ace Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has stated that it would be impossible for her husband, Matthew Ekeinde, to leave her or their union.

Naija News reports that Omotola, while speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, said divorce has never been a consideration in her 30-year marriage.

The movie attributed the success of their marriage to her husband’s selflessness, absence of ego, and the deep trust they share.
