Iran Drones Hit US Embassy

Drones from Iran hit the United States embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday morning.

Naija News reports that the attack caused a small fire and minor damage to the compound, according to Saudi authorities.

Thick black smoke was seen rising from the embassy area, which is home to several foreign missions.

A loud explosion and visible flames were reported, though the fire remained limited. The embassy building was empty at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Saudi air defence systems intercepted four other drones aimed at the diplomatic zone during the incident.

Following the attack, the embassy advised American citizens to stay away from the area.

This assault came shortly after a similar event at the US embassy in Kuwait, which announced it would stay closed until further notice.

The US State Department also instructed non-essential staff and families to leave Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, and Jordan as a safety precaution.

The strike occurs amid rising tensions in the Gulf, where Iran has targeted locations hosting American forces in response to recent US and Israeli operations on Iranian soil.

On Monday, Saudi Aramco shut down its Ras Tanura oil refinery after debris from an Iranian drone caused a fire at the facility.
