No Loss Of Life Recorded – FAAN Confirms Fire Outbreak At Lagos Airport Terminal

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, which is currently under reconstruction.

Naija News reports that the authority in a post on social media assured that no loss of life occurred.

FAAN said firefighters and emergency teams were quickly deployed to contain the blaze.

Eyewitnesses reported that people around the terminal rushed to safety as the fire spread.

Efforts to completely put out the fire were ongoing at the time of the report, and the cause of the outbreak has not yet been determined.

The airport remains under close watch while emergency personnel are working to secure the area.

In a statement, the authority said: “FAAN wishes to inform the public of a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to contain the situation. No loss of life has been recorded.”

In other news, a human rights activist and constitutional lawyer, Hamza Nuhu Dantani, has petitioned the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the alleged abduction, sexual abuse and continued custody of a minor, Walida Abdulhadi, from Jigawa State.

In a detailed letter reportedly seen by SaharaReporters on Monday, Dantani, who is also a member of the Citizens’ Liberty Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, raised concerns about what he described as a “desperate, calculated, and coordinated attempt to cover up a case involving a minor.”

According to the petition, Walida was abducted in 2023 while she was a Senior Secondary School II student.
