FCT: APC, ADC Tie At Presidential Villa Gate Polling Unit
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) ended in a dead heat at Polling Unit 130, located at Gate 8 of the Presidential Villa in the City Centre Ward of the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
At the high-profile polling unit situated at the doorstep of the seat of power, both APC and ADC secured seven votes each, sharing the top position.
Despite having 784 registered voters at the polling unit, only 14 voters were accredited and cast their ballots, underscoring the low voter turnout that characterised parts of the city centre.
The stark gap between registered voters and actual participation highlighted voter apathy in the heart of the nation’s capital.
The tie at the Presidential Villa gate polling unit further illustrated the closely contested nature of the polls, where low turnout made each vote crucial in shaping the unit’s final outcome.
In a related development, the chairmanship candidates of the APC and ADC recorded a tie at the Supreme Court Staff Quarters polling unit in Karu, Abuja, during Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections.
Voters at the polling unit cast 12 votes each for the candidates of both parties in an exercise characterised by low turnout.
Announcing the results, the Presiding Officer, Martins Sani, said Christopher Maikalangu of the APC polled 12 votes, while Paul Moses of the ADC also secured 12 votes.
According to him, only 32 out of the 749 registered voters cast their ballots at the polling unit.
