Liam Rosenior Blames Caicedo Error After Chelsea Bottled 2-goal lead Against Leeds United

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has criticised Moises Caicedo for conceding what he described as “a poor decision” during the Blues’ 2-2 Premier League draw with Leeds United on Tuesday night.

Chelsea appeared on track to extend their perfect start under Rosenior after Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer fired them into a commanding two-goal lead.

But Leeds responded with urgency after the break. Caicedo brought down Jayden Bogle inside the penalty area, allowing Lukas Nmecha to score from the spot and shift the momentum. The visitors then completed their comeback when Noah Okafor reacted quickest to slot into an unguarded net, bringing the match level.

“Moi [Caicedo] is a magnificent player and has been top since I came in but we made a poor decision there. We give away a penalty,” Rosenior told reporters.

“The penalty goes in, they hit a few long balls, pick up some second balls. The lad handballs it and it affects my players.”

Chelsea’s frustration grew over Leeds’ second goal, with protests over a potential handball by Jayden Bogle in the build-up. Despite the complaints, the decision stood following a VAR review.

The Premier League later addressed the incident in a statement issued via its Match Centre on 𝕏.

“The referee’s call of a goal to Leeds United was checked and confirmed by VAR, with it deemed to be no handball offence by Bogle in the build-up,” the statement read.
