Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have stormed suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of Lafia East Development Area in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, arresting six suspects and rescuing three abducted persons.

Naija News understands that the operation led to the rescue of two females and one male, who were abducted from Angara village earlier in the week.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lafia on Friday, January 9.

According to him, the victims were rescued unhurt, promptly treated, and reunited with their families.

Nansel said the operation was launched following a formal complaint received by the police on January 7, 2026, regarding a kidnapping incident in Angara village.

“This operation followed a complaint lodged on 07/01/2026, reporting that suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village and abducted two females, leaving behind an infant, and later kidnapped another male in the same village,” he stated.

The police spokesperson explained that upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators.

“Acting on this information, the Commissioner of Police immediately ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators, which culminated in the successful arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victims,” Nansel added.

He further disclosed that the six suspects arrested had confessed to the commission of the crime.

According to him, the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department on the directive of the Commissioner of Police for thorough investigation and prosecution.

Nansel said the Commissioner of Police has reassured residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s resolve to sustain its offensive against kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.

He added that the police would continue to work with local vigilantes and community members to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.
