1. President Tinubu Travels To Europe

President Bola Tinubu has travelled to Europe to continue his end-of-year break and to prepare for his official trip to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Naia News reports that the Special Adviser to the President Tinubu, on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to Onanuga, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has invited Tinubu to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, which will take place in the emirate early in January.

According to Onanuga, the weeklong summit is an annual event that mobilises leaders from government, business, and society to chart the next era of sustainable development.

2. Bring Out Evidence – Makinde Challenges Fayose, Reveals How Much He Got From Tinubu Government

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has denied receiving the sum of ₦50 billion from President Bola Tinubu without using the funds for the intended purpose.

Makinde made the denial in a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, while responding to a claim by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, that he got the sum of ₦50 billion from the federal government as support for victims of the 2024 Ibadan explosion.

Naija News recalls that Fayose had alleged that Makinde got the fund, and pocketed it without using it for the intended purposes. The former Governor also claimed he had evidence to back up his claims.

However, Makinde, while denying the allegations, also rubbished the said evidence. According to him, the allegation is false, misleading and politically motivated.

The Governor maintained that the ₦50 billion was not disbursed, but only exists as a promissory note.

The statement confirmed that Governor Makinde travelled to Abuja after the explosion with a detailed report to formally request federal intervention after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not visit the state.

However, it added that while the government initially promised ₦50 billion, only ₦30 billion was eventually released.

3. Tinubu: Emergency Singers Of ‘On Your Mandate We Shall Stand’ Won’t Get Any Help – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that some current supporters of President Bola Tinubu started supporting him because and after he won the 2023 presidential election.

He, however, said becoming emergency supporters of the president and singing his political song, ‘on your mandate we shall stand’, will not help any of them.

Wike narrated that he had always believed in Tinubu even before the 2023 elections, and that is why he supported him to emerge as President during the elections.

Naija News reports that Wike, who made the declaration on Sunday, while addressing stakeholders in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, said the Ikwerre ethnicity of the state voted massively for Tinubu in 2023, stressing that they would replicate the gesture in 2027.

According to him, agreement is agreement, and he was among those who championed the idea that the South must be allowed to complete eight years in power regardless of party affiliation.

4. Drop Your Evil Plan To Destroy Accord Party, Let’s Take The Fight To The Voters – Adeleke Dares APC

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is obsessed with bringing down the Accord Party (AP).

Adeleke, in a statement signed by his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, questioned why the APC was obsessed with either deleting Accord from the electoral registry or preventing him from participating in the gubernatorial contest.

He stated that the attempt by the lawmaker representing the Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Wole Oke, to deregister the Accord has made him a laughingstock.

Rasheed mocked Oke for working overtime to satisfy former governor, Gboyega Oyetola.

The Spokesperson lambasted the lawmaker for his degeneration into outright illegal advocacy after realising that Accord had become a party of victory, of triumph, within a short span of its unveiling by Adeleke.

5. Labour Party Reacts To Peter Obi’s Planned Defection To ADC

The Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party has downplayed the planned defection of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Naija News reports that a party official in Abuja, in an interview with Punch, disclosed that Peter Obi’s supporters and loyalists have begun preparations for a defection.

The source disclosed that Peter Obi met with the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, to renew his allegiance to the coalition, after the party asked him to make up his mind on joining the party three weeks ago.

He said the party’s position might have convinced the former governor of Anambra State to finally join the ADC.

According to him, Peter Obi will hold a declaration rally in Enugu, the political capital of the South-East, on December 31.

However, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in an interview with PUNCH, said the party would refrain from making any definitive comment on the matter until Peter Obi officially speaks on the defection.

According to Ifoh, any decision by Peter Obi to leave the party would be driven by personal ambition rather than institutional failure, stressing that the Labour Party would continue to thrive regardless.

6. Your Lack Of Care Is Scary – Bolaji Abdullahi Fires Tinubu Over Foreign Trip

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has accused President Bola Tinubu of insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians by neglecting them and not showing concern.

Abdullahi, in a statement on Sunday, lamented that President Tinubu has not demonstrated any atom of care for Nigerians, adding that such an attitude is getting scary.

The former Minister accused President Tinubu of abandoning Nigerians in the wake of bomb blasts in some locations in the country and foreign military action on Nigerian soil by the American government.

According to him, instead of providing words of assurance as the nation’s leader, the President has chosen to embark on a foreign trip.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has clarified that it has not yet received a response from FIFA regarding its challenge to the eligibility of certain players from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who participated in the 2026 World Cup African play-off against the Super Eagles some weeks ago.

NFF, however, categorically stated that the situation is still under consideration.

This statement comes in response to media claims that FIFA had dismissed Nigeria’s appeal following the Super Eagles’ defeat to DR Congo in the play-off final.

Speaking on the development, NFF Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed that no official updates have been received from FIFA concerning the petition.
