Doris Ogala Demands ₦1 Billion In Damages From Pastor Chris Okafor Over Broken Marriage Promise

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has demanded ₦1 billion from Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City, claiming the cleric failed to fulfil a promise to marry her.

Naija News reports that the demand, sent through her lawyers at Synergy Law Partners, gave Pastor Okafor 21 days to pay or face legal action.

The letter stated that the alleged nine-year relationship began in 2017, during which Ogala claims Pastor Okafor repeatedly promised to marry her.

Her lawyers said the promise was supported by his actions, including introducing her to family members and attending public events together.

Ogala reportedly relied on this promise in making personal decisions, including leaving a troubled marriage and providing the pastor access to her finances, with one transfer alone amounting to ₦45 million.

The dispute intensified after Pastor Okafor announced his engagement to another woman, which Ogala’s lawyers said caused her emotional distress, reputational damage, and public scrutiny.

They also claimed private photographs were shared without her consent.

While the letter said that marriage cannot be forced, it stated that the law allows for compensation in cases of broken promises that cause harm.

Ogala’s team is seeking both general and aggravated damages, citing the public and personal consequences of the alleged breach.

Pastor Okafor and his legal team could not be reached for comment at the time of reporting.

The matter has attracted public attention following the pastor’s recent marriage, which went ahead despite Ogala’s threats to take legal action and disrupt the wedding.
