YPP Confirms Expulsion Of House Of Reps Member
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has expelled one of its members in the House of Representatives, Uzokwe Peter, following allegations of anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
The decision was formalized in a communiqué issued at the conclusion of the party’s 24th Extra-Ordinary National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on December 4, 2025.
The NEC, which is the party’s highest decision-making organ, endorsed the earlier expulsion decision made by the National Working Committee (NWC).
Uzokwe Peter is representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.
Multiple petitions and verified video evidence of anti-party activities constituting gross misconduct was cited as the reason for his expulsion.
The actions, YPP noted, were deemed a violation of Section 36(7), Article (b, f & o), pages 70 and 71 of the party’s constitution.
The party reaffirmed its “zero-tolerance policy for acts that undermine unity, discipline, and cohesion.”
The NEC also approved the election of several national officers to fill existing vacancies within the party structure, in compliance with Section 82(1), (2), and (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
The NEC also passed a unanimous vote of confidence on the National Chairman, Bishop Amakiri.
