5. “Trump Is On Our Neck” – Reasons Behind Senate’s Rejection Of Bow And Go Screening For Musa Emerges

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, rejected a motion for the former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, to take a bow and go without fielding questions during his public screening before the National Assembly.

The motion was moved by Niger East Senator, Sani Musa, who argued that Musa, who was nominated for the position of Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, has been grilled behind closed doors and has also operated at the topmost echelon of the nation’s security architecture.

However, the motion, which generated heated reactions from the lawmakers, was also firmly rejected by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who presided over the day’s plenary.

According to Akpabio, the nominee could not be allowed to take a bow without fielding questions because of the international focus on Nigeria’s security situation.

Specifically, the Senate President mentioned that United States President, Donald Trump, is on their necks, and Musa must also be questioned on how he intends to manage the security situation in the country.

He submitted that the current challenges of insecurity in the country do not leave room for ‘bow and go ‘ politics.
