1. CDS Oluyede Reveals What Service Chiefs Discussed With President Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, charged the nation’s service chiefs to develop and deploy new strategies in achieving results in the ongoing fight against insecurity in the country.
The President also demanded greater efficiency from the service and security chiefs in the discharge of their duties.
The focus of the meeting was disclosed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, who spoke to newsmen after the closed-door meeting between President Tinubu and the service chiefs.
As earlier reported by Naija News, the President held an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja with the security chiefs.
According to Oluyede, the meeting was quite engaging as the President gave new direction and directives intended to achieve better results in the fight against all forms of insecurity.
The Chief of Defence Staff promised Nigerians that the security agencies are working together to ensure that Nigerians celebrate the yuletide in peace.
2. Tinubu Nominates Former CDS, Christopher Musa As New Minister Of Defence
President Bola Tinubu has nominated a former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, as the new Minister of Defence.
Naija News reports that the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Tinubu conveyed General Musa’s nomination in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following the resignation of Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on Monday.
In the letter to the Senate, President Tinubu expressed confidence in General Musa’s ability to lead the Ministry of Defence and further strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
3. Nnamdi Kanu: President Tinubu Meets Alex Otti
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
While the official agenda of the meeting was not publicly disclosed, sources indicate to Vanguard thay discussion was highly likely connected to ongoing efforts to secure the release of the convicted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The engagement follows Governor Otti’s recent high-profile visit to Kanu at the Sokoto prison facility, where the IPOB leader is serving a life sentence following his conviction on terrorism-related charges on November 20, 2025.
The Governor’s visit to Sokoto was part of a coordinated political and legal strategy aimed at resolving the long-running matter.
Otti was accompanied by a delegation including: Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; The Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN); His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma; and Officials of the Sokoto State Government were also present during the prison visit.
Governor Otti has consistently maintained that resolving Nnamdi Kanu’s case remains a priority for his administration.
4. PDP Sends Certificate Of Expulsion To Wike, Fayose, Others
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ratified the expulsion of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike and others from the party.
The PDP has also sent their expulsion certificates to them by courier.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the National Chairman of the party, Kabiru Turaki, while addressing newsmen after the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja.
Naija News reports that the decision to expel Wike, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, and several others, was first taken at the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in November 2025.
Speaking on the development on Tuesday, Turaki said the expulsions have now been ratified by the NWC as part of efforts to sanitize the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that the PDP is committed to enforcing discipline and preventing internal sabotage.
The Chairman listed Wike, Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna and Chief Dan Orbih as part of those whose expulsion certificates have been sent to them and they are no longer PDP members.
5. Edo Assembly Summons Natasha Osawaru Over Viral ‘Fight’ With Husband, 2Baba
The Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday directed the member representing Egor Constituency, Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week following the circulation of a viral video in which she was involved in a heated altercation with her husband, renowned Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia (2Baba).
The House said the lawmaker’s conduct had placed the Assembly in public disrepute, a position the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, described as embarrassing” for the legislature.
“For the past one week, she has been, let me use the word, trending negatively, both on electronic media and social media platforms. Television such as TVC, Silverbird, and other television stations,” the Speaker told members during Tuesday’s plenary.
Agbebaku lamented that the incident and the attention it has drawn to the assembly were unbecoming of a lawmaker and warned that the matter could not be allowed to erode the House’s reputation.
6. ‘Call Your Minister To Order’ – Bode George Reports Wike To Tinubu
The former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government of attempting to destroy the PDP and undermine Nigeria’s democracy.
Speaking on the state of the nation on Tuesday, George urged President Bola Tinubu to immediately call the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to order and instruct him to desist from interfering in the PDP’s internal affairs.
In his address, titled ‘Dear Mr President, our nation is wobbling politically,’ George claimed the APC government is preoccupied with political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, even at the expense of national security and institutional integrity.
He criticized the government’s slow response to the escalating nationwide insecurity, including abductions and killings across several states.
George highlighted the recent disruption at the PDP National Secretariat on November 18, 2025, as a “grave warning” of a broader anti-democratic pattern.
He directly implicated the FCT Minister in the chaos, alleging that the forceful entry was encouraged by a serving Federal Minister, referring to the Wike-aligned faction who recently faced expulsion from the party.
