EEDC Cancels Planned 10-Day Power Outage In Enugu
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has called off the 10-day planned power outage earlier scheduled to affect parts of Enugu State.
Naija News reports that the outage, billed to run from Wednesday, October 22, to Friday, October 31, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, was suspended due to unforeseen technical constraints, the utility said on Thursday, October 23.
In a statement issued today, the EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, said the decision came after communication from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
“Following communication from TCN, the planned outage has been suspended due to unforeseen technical constraints. A new schedule will be communicated once confirmed,” Ezeh stated.
He apologised to customers for the inconvenience and assured that the company would provide adequate notice ahead of any rescheduled maintenance.
Earlier notices indicated the planned works would have involved a rotational shutdown across several 33kV feeders in parts of Enugu metropolis, including:
- Kingsway Lines 1 & 2
- Emene Industrial Lines 1 & 2
- Thinkers Corner
- Trans-Ekulu
- Ugwuogo
- Ituku-Ozalla
EEDC said the maintenance exercise will still hold at a later date, but with a revised plan to minimise disruption to homes and businesses.
The Disco urged customers to monitor its official channels for a new timetable and further guidance once TCN and EEDC align schedules for the deferred works.
