1. Nigeria Will Ensure Total Elimination Of Nuclear Weapons – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has called for the total elimination of nuclear weapons all over the world.

He vowed that Nigeria will do everything in its power to ensure that nuclear weapons are eliminated.

The President made the promise at the high-level meeting to commemorate the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons at the UN headquarters in New York.

Represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, Tinubu stated that the event serves as a reminder to the world of the shared responsibility and collective resolve to eradicate dangerous weapons.

“Nigeria will continue to do its part to ensure total elimination of nuclear weapons is achieved,” Mr Tinubu said.

According to him, the total elimination of nuclear weapons remains the only absolute guarantee against their use or threat of use.

He urged Nuclear Weapons States to be mindful of the impact of weapons of mass destruction on human health, the environment, and vital economic resources, among others.

According to him, the continued existence of nuclear weapons is a massive challenge to international peace and security.

He reiterated his concern over the resistance and lack of political will by Nuclear-Weapon States to ensure the total elimination of their nuclear arsenals.

According to him, the total elimination of nuclear weapons remains the only absolute guarantee against their use or threat of use.

2. Dangote Refinery Suspends Naira Petrol Sales

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has suspended the sale of petrol in naira, unsettling oil marketers and raising fresh concerns about fuel pricing and foreign exchange pressure.

Naija News understands that the refinery announced the suspension in an email sent to its customers at exactly 6:42 pm on Friday.

According to Dangote refinery, the decision would take effect from Sunday, September 28, 2025, citing the exhaustion of its crude-for-naira allocation as the reason.

The notice which was signed by the Group Commercial Operations of Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, and titled “Suspension of DPRP PMS Naira Sales Effective 28th September 2025”, asked customers with ongoing naira-based transactions to formally request refunds.

Naija News reports that Dangote Refinery is currently embroiled in controversy following the sacking of more than 800 Nigerian workers, a development that has pitted the refinery against labour unions.

Union leaders have vowed to resist what they described as “an unjust and insensitive corporate decision,” threatening nationwide solidarity actions if the matter is not addressed.

3. PENGASSAN Orders Shutdown Of Crude, Gas Supply To Dangote Refinery

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has ordered its members to immediately halt the supply of gas and crude oil to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery following the termination of over 800 workers who joined the union.

In a directive dated Saturday and signed by its General Secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, the union said the shutdown was a response to what it described as the refinery’s “illegitimate and provocative action” against its members.

The letter, addressed to branch chairmen across the country, instructed members to take decisive steps against the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility.

The union wrote, “As you are aware, the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has disengaged our members in reaction to the exercise of their constitutional right to be unionised.

“They have gone further on a mission of misinformation and propaganda to justify this illegitimacy rather than engaging meaningfully with us to right the wrong.

“Consequent to these, you are hereby directed to cut off gas supply to NGIC effective immediately. All crude oil supply valves to the refinery should be shut. The loading operation for the vessel headed there should be halted immediately.”

Okugbawa specifically directed the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) branch to ensure that gas supply to the refinery was cut off without delay, while all branch chairmen were ordered to promptly report progress on compliance.

5. LP Factional Chairman, Abure Attacked In Benin Airport

The crisis in the Labour Party (LP) took a violent twist on Friday after its factional national chairman, Julius Abure, was physically attacked at the Benin Airport, Edo State.

According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Abure-led faction, Obiora Ifoh, the incident occurred when a woman identified as Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama P, accosted Abure while boarding a Max Air flight from Abuja to Benin.

Naija News reported that Ifoh stated that the confrontation began at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where Oruche confronted Abure in the boarding queue.

“She continued the assault throughout the flight despite interventions by flight attendants to calm her down,” Ifoh alleged.

The drama reportedly escalated upon arrival at Benin Airport, where Oruche allegedly attempted to lunge at Abure again before security operatives whisked him away and handed the suspect over to the police.

The LP spokesman further alleged that Oruche, described as a content creator and member of a “known political family,” had boasted in one of her online videos that she was untouchable due to her connections in the police hierarchy.

According to Ifoh, she allegedly vowed to continue targeting Abure and other party executives because, in her words, “you have killed Labour Party and you are the reason why Obi is no longer in the Labour Party.”

Condemning the incident, Ifoh described it as a “suicidal aggression” against the party’s leadership.

6. 2027: We Are Not ‘Obidient’ People In The Southeast, 2023 Was A Mistake – Umahi

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has predicted that the southeast region would vote massively for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Speaking on Saturday during the Ohanivo 2025 New Yam Festival in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi, Umahi declared that the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in which Peter Obi of the Labour Party garnered huge votes from the region was a mistake.

He stated that the outcome of the 2027 elections would be different, dismissing the influence of the Peter Obi-led OBIdient Movement in the region.

Naija News reports that the Minister lamented that the southeast had been marginalised for several years, leading to the belief that the Obidient movement is dominant in the region, but things have changed with the coming on board of President Tinubu, and the region’s allegiance and that of Ebonyi State in particular, is to the central government now.

The former Ebonyi governor called on the people of the southeast to reciprocate the goodwill demonstrated by President Tinubu to the region by voting for him in large numbers in the 2027 elections.

7. We Don’t Have Time To Waste – ADC Chieftain Sounds Warning To Opposition

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has warned members of the opposition coalition that they cannot afford to waste time.

Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television, he asserted that the party needs people in its fold to formalise their membership.

He also said that the order was not directed solely at the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi.

The ADC chieftain urged those who are interested in joining the party to come in and understand the importance of the party.

He said, “The ADC is saying that when you look at the political calendar from now to the time of campaign and elections in 2027, we really don’t have time to waste.

“So, this is not particularly directed to Peter Obi but all chieftains and members of other political parties who would like to join the fold to come in and understand the importance of our party.

“We don’t need to be complacent. We simply need to put our hands on the plough to give the party a direction so that we can go out there and face Nigerians and convince them that we are actually not the party that would only give them change but the party that would give them the change they deserve.”

8. After Clash With Abure, Edo Police Detain Obidient Activist, Mama P

The Edo State Police Command has reportedly detained activist and Obidient movement member, Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama P.

Naija News reports that this was made known on Saturday by the Interim National Coordinator of Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko.

He called for urgent intervention and legal support following Mama P’s detention by the Edo State Police, amid controversy over her alleged attack on former Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, at Abuja Airport.

In a post on X, Tanko wrote: “Mama P has been detained at the state CID Edo State police headquarters off Sapele Road, Benin City.

“I have just spoken to our legal Director to deploy lawyers to her Rescue. We want more people to come for her Rescue lawyers and all concern should please mount immediately.

“We need everyone support for her NOW!”

He urged members, lawyers, and civil society groups to mobilise and demand her immediate release.

Naija News reports that a viral video showed some young men trying to drag Oruche out at the exit door of the Benin Airport, but airport security and immigration officers intervened.

Mama Pee claimed one of the thugs hit her in the eye and another threatened to shoot her.

9. I Was Catching Cruise, I Can’t Sleep With 100 Men In 24 Hours – Mandy Kiss Makes U-turn

Nigerian content creator, Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi Adefolarin, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, has retracted her earlier claim of planning to sleep with 100 men in 24 hours.

Naija News reports that the controversial personality in a video on her Instagram page said the announcement was only a stunt to revive her online presence.

She explained that the idea came from her desire to gain attention and attract more engagement on her social media page, which had become inactive.

According to her, the move was aimed at drawing followers and potential advertisers so she could earn money, not to actually carry out the controversial act.

Mandy Kiss said she never had plans to go through with the challenge and added that she cannot engage in such an act.

She also appealed to Nigerians not to take the announcement seriously, expressing fear of legal trouble and stating that she does not have the resources to handle a court case or legal representation.

10. Brentford Sink United 3-1 As Pressure Mounts On Amorim

Manchester United’s woes worsened on Saturday as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Naija News understands that the result has left manager Ruben Amorim under increasing pressure.

Brentford’s Brazilian forward, Igor Thiago, was the star of the afternoon, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes to put the visitors on the back foot.

He opened the scoring in the 8th minute, breaking the offside trap before slotting calmly past Altay Bayindir. Twelve minutes later, he doubled his tally, pouncing on a rebound to make it 2-0.

United briefly clawed back into the contest in the 26th minute when Benjamin Šeško bundled home after a goalmouth scramble, raising faint hopes of a comeback.

But those hopes faded in the second half when captain Bruno Fernandes squandered a golden chance to level the scores. His 71st-minute penalty was brilliantly saved by Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, who dived the right way to preserve his side’s lead.

As United pushed forward desperately, Brentford struck late on the counter. Substitute Mathias Jensen produced a stunning finish deep into stoppage time, curling home from distance to secure a famous 3-1 victory for the Bees.

The result comes barely a week after United’s morale-boosting win over Chelsea, dragging the club back into turmoil ahead of the international break.
