Gunmen Kill Former PDP Chairman, Three Others In Benue

A former ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), James Akase, along with three other individuals, have tragically lost their lives in recent assaults by armed assailants across two Local Government Areas in Benue State.
Naija News understands that the incidents took place on Monday in distinct rural areas within Gwer West and Guma LGAs, resulting in numerous injuries and displacing many residents.
According to Daily Post, an eyewitness confirmed that Akase, originally from Tse-Defam, Mba’akov Vengav in Avihijime Council Ward of Gwer West LGA, was fatally shot upon returning to his deserted home in search of food for his family, having previously been forced to flee due to ongoing violence in the region.
In Guma LGA, three additional individuals were killed during coordinated strikes on two separate villages. Local residents reported that Bartholomew Ikornya was shot dead at Tse Ikpe Ago, situated along the Yogbo-Gyungu Aze road in Mbayer/Yandev Council Ward.
Furthermore, in another village, Tse Kologa in Mbagune, Nyiev Council Ward, two more victims, Gabriel Korlaga and an individual named Kunde, were also murdered.
The Chairman of Gwer West LGA, Victor Ormin, has also confirmed these tragic events, expressing his concern over the recurring violence and urging security forces to enhance their surveillance and protective measures in the affected areas.
