Panic As Gunmen Kidnap FHA Director Near Military Base In Abuja

The Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Wesley Bathiye, Usman Sahabi, has been reportedly kidnapped.

Reports made available to newsmen revealed that Sahabi was whisked away from his residence at about 1 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Naija News understands that the kidnapped victim is a reporter with Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation and has covered the Assembly for years. He is said to have lived in the same residence in Wuro-Chekke, in Yola South Local Government Area, for many years before he was whisked away by the yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

Reports had it that the kidnappers had called and demanded N20 million as ransom.

“Five gunmen stormed his house about 1:00 this morning and forcefully had their way into his room where they whisked him away at gunpoint,” Daily Post quoted a source saying in a telephone chat.

Reacting, however, the Adamawa State Police Command has vowed to rescue the journalist. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, said the state Command had deployed all its operational assets to ensure the rescue.

“We have deployed our operational manpower, and we are working round the clock to ensure that the abducted journalist is rescued alive.

“We have not rested on our oars since we learnt about the incident and are giving the criminals a hot chase till we rescue the journalist alive and apprehend the perpetrators.

“DC operations have finished coordinating all rescue efforts and wish to assure his safe return to his family,” Nguroje assured.
