UEFA Slams Mourinho Four-Match Ban For Abusing Referee

The manager of Roma, Jose Mourinho, returned to the bad books of Referees earlier today as he was sent off against Monza.

In the intense Italian Serie A game between Roma and Monza, Jose Mourinho desperately waited on the sideline for a goal but that didn’t happen until the 90th minute.

When Monza thought they would run away from Stadio Olimpico Tour with at least a point, Stephan El Shaarawy blasted home the match-winner in the 90th minute as the game ended 1-0.

A very relieved Mourinho landed on his knee to celebrate the slim win before he stood up and walked to his seats.

The Portuguese tactician, who was disgusted by the antics of his opposition and probably the match officials, used his hands to demonstrate that they talked too much as he made his way to the bench.

Mourinho didn’t stop there, he also placed his fist close to his eyes to demonstrate that they cried too much facing the players and the match official on the pitch.

Even though it was not clear who Jose Mourinho was making those demonstrations against, the centre referee deemed them offensive as he showed the Portuguese coach a straight red card.

If the decision is not reverted, Mourinho is expected to miss the Serie A game against their fiercest rival, Inter Milan, next weekend.

The Portuguese tactician is not new to receiving red cards in his managerial career. In the 2022-2023 season alone, he received a whopping three red cards before the season ended.

So far in the 2023-2024 season, Jose Mourinho has received one red card in just 9 league games, with 29 games left to play before the end of the season. All things being equal, the 6th placed team coach could receive one or two more red cards before the season ends.
