Israeli Govt Shuts Down Al Jazeera Office Over Reports On Hamas War

The Israeli government has reportedly approved emergency regulations that grant the authority to close the office of Al Jazeera news channel in Israel.

These regulations, Naija News learnt, also allow for the confiscation of all equipment belonging to the news channel. Israeli public broadcaster, KAN, noted in a publication on Saturday that the Al Jazeera office is facing strict action due to concerns that its coverage poses a threat to Israel’s national security.

The Israeli i24 news website has also quoted an Israeli statement claiming that Al Jazeera broadcasts propaganda in support of Hamas in both Arabic and English, reaching audiences worldwide.

Though Al Jazeera has refuted these allegations, it has yet to respond to the latest decision made by the Israeli government as of the time of filing this report.

It is worth noting that Al Jazeera, based in Qatar, is recognized as one of the primary media networks providing comprehensive coverage of the situation in Gaza, Israel, and southern Lebanon.

Israel-Hamas Crisis: FG Told To Send Relief Materials To Palestinians

Meanwhile, the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), has asked the Federal Government to send relief materials to Palestinians who are in dire need of food, clothing, medicine and other essentials.

Naija News reports that the President of the Council, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed Hadiyyatullah, made the demand at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja.

He also called on the Nigerian humanitarian organisations and worship centres to assist the distressed people of Palestine.

The Council called on all Muslims and people of other faiths to offer special prayers invoking Allah, The Most High, to come to the aid of the Palestinians and all oppressed people of the world.

He said, “The Federal Government of Nigeria on behalf of the teeming Muslims and Christians and people of conscience in Nigeria, should, as a matter of urgency, provide relief materials to the besieged Palestinians.

“Muslim organisations, under the auspices of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), are deeply concerned about the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

“This is because apart from its criminality and lack of humanity, it also clearly shows the failure of global institutions established after the Second World War to protect human beings against any form of tyranny.”

He stressed the need for the Federal Government of Nigeria to emulate the Government and opposition party of South Africa who condemned the actions of the Zionist State of Israel.

The cleric also called on the international community to address the root cause of the conflict.
