Discard Chicago State University's Deposition, Tinubu Tells Supreme Court

The Supreme Court in Abuja has scheduled Monday 23rd of October to hear the petition of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar against the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February presidential elections.

This is coming about two weeks after PDP’s Atiku addressed a news conference in Abuja, which focused on the validity and authenticity of President Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University.

Atiku had vowed to appeal the tribunal ruling of Sept. 6, which upheld the election of President Tinubu as the winner of the Feb. 25 Presidential election.

The hearing notice dated 19th October, signed by Zainab M. Garba, was shared by PDP chieftain, Dele Momodu via his microblogging X on Thrusday.

What Atiku’s Case Against Tinubu Will Do To Nigeria’s Judicial System – Eastern Union

Meanwhile, the Eastern Union, a pro-democracy group in Nigeria, has said the case of alleged certificate forgery between former vice-president Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu puts the Nigerian judiciary on trial.

The EU National President, Charles Anike, in a chat with The Whistler, urged the judiciary to emulate the standards in which the United States judiciary dispensed the case of certificate forgery.

Anike also called on the Nigerian judiciary to learn positive lessons from the transparent manner Atiku’s case was handled in the US.

Recall that on September 19, 2023, a US judge, Magistrate Jeffrey Gilbert, had ordered Chicago State University to release President Tinubu’s results to Abubakar.

The case eventually went to a senior judge, Nancy Maldonado, who ruled in favour of Atiku, rejecting stay of execution pleas from Tinubu.
