The father of Nigeria’s ambassador to Austria, Suleiman Umar, Dauda, has reportedly died at age 83.

The late Umar was, until his death, a seasoned accountant and administrator, who worked in various local government councils of Kaduna State.

Emir of Zazzau Ahmed Bamalli led his council members, district heads and hundreds of sympathizers for the funeral prayer for the deceased in Zaria on Tuesday.

The remains of the ambassador’s father were laid to rest at the Amaru Muslim burial ground in Kaura Ward of Zaria Local Government Area.

The deceased is survived by wives, children and many grandchildren.

The ambassador was born on December 3, 1963, in the then Zaria Native Authority. He grew up in Zaria and attended Kaura Local Education Authority, Primary School from 1969 to 1975.

Veteran Broadcaster ordained

Meanwhile, veteran broadcaster, Cyril Stober was ordained a knight of the Methodist Church, in Nigeria.

The former Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) anchor was ordained on Sunday as family and friends witnessed the occasion and celebrated his ordination.

Stober retired from the NTA in 2015 and wedded another broadcaster with the NTA, Elizabeth Banu, in January 2018.

NTA reported that the couple had their traditional wedding in Banu’s hometown in Garkida, Adamawa State.

The two broadcasters are famed for casting the network news and anchoring the program Tuesday Live, also on the NTA network.
