Popular Journalist Dies In Abuja

Pioneer editor of Peoples Daily newspaper Mouktar Adamu has died.

According to reports, Adamu died on Thursday at the State House Clinic, Abuja after a brief illness.

He retired as deputy editor-in-chief (DEIC) of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The funeral prayer for the deceased was held at the National Mosque. It was attended by family members, colleagues and associates, including Garba Shehu, former spokesman of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

Also in attendance were former Senate leader, Senator Abdul Ningi; ex-spokesman of Debt Management Office, Nasir Mahmoud: Daily Trust managing editor, Yusuf Zango; and host of others.

NAN director of administration and human resources AbdulHadi Khalil led the agency’s delegation to the funeral at the Gudu cemetery, Abuja.
