Senegal Has Shown Africa The Way - Ezekwesili Reacts As Opposition Candidate Leads Senegal Presidential Race

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has condemned the arraignment of the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, over the alleged possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Naija News earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned the suspended CBN Governor on a two-count of charge of illegal possession of a single-barrel gun and 23 live ammunition.

Emefiele, during the ruling on Tuesday, pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him by the secret police.

The court granted him bail for N20 million. Following the ruling of the court, the counsel to Joseph Daudu had raised the fear that DSS had the intention of rearresting his client.

Despite the court ruling, a struggle broke out between DSS operatives and prison officials over Emefiele’s custody.

Reacting to the development, Oby Ezekwesili, in a post shared on her Twitter handle, slammed the DSS over the treatment melted at Emefiele.

She urged the security agency to stop embarrassing themselves and tell Nigerians the truth about the case of Emefiele.

She wrote: “The DG of @OfficialDSSNG who without decorum publicly advertises that he is a close friend of @officialABAT,obviously thinks the average IQ of sensible Nigerians is as low as that of the politicians he has reduced that Agency of @NigeriaGov to serve.

“Stop embarrassing yourselves and tell us the truth of the Emefiele matter jooo. Be guided

“@OfficialDSSNG must immediately apologize to Nigerians for daring to take citizens for a ride on this Emefiele’s court case.

“Imagine. So after all the monetary policy damage his boss @MBuhari and the former @cenbank committed against the Nigerian economy and people, it is for “illegal possession of firearms” that State Security charged him to court? Nonsense.”
