CJN Ariwoola Moves To Fill 11 Supreme Court Vacant Seats

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended Olukayode Ariwoola Junior, son of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola for appointment as a Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

Naija News understands Ariwoola Jr was recommended for the Federal High Court bench alongside 22 others who passed the recent screening and interview of the Council.

The decision was taken at the 103rd meeting of the NJC presided over by the CJN himself, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

According to a statement on Friday by the NJC Director of Information, Soji Oye, the council considered the list of candidates presented by its Interview Committee and at the end of deliberation, recommended the names of successful candidates as Head of Court and other Judicial Officers for the Federal High Court and the Sharia Courts of Appeal of Kaduna and Kano State.

The recommended names are as follows:

All recommended candidates are expected to be sworn-in after the approval of the NJC recommendations to the President and their respective State Governors and or confirmation by their State Houses of Assembly, as the case may be.

The National Judicial Council is one of the Federal Executive Bodies created by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Amongst other functions, it is responsible for the Appointment, Promotion and Discipline of Judicial Officers.
