2023 Presidential Election Remains Most Improved In Nigeria’s History - Garba Shehu

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu has said the just-concluded presidential election remains the most improved election in the history of the country.

During an appearance on Arise Television News on Thursday, Shehu said the presidential election was an improvement on the previous polls in the country.

Shehu said it is wrong to say the election was marred by violence, claiming that 98 or 99 percent of Nigerians voted in a free environment without fear or any sort of intimidation.

The presidential spokesman said the reports of electoral violence were only a few isolated cases, adding that there were irregularities in the conduct of the election.

He said: “The talks about violence, I have seen a few of these reports and I do not deny that.

“But to say that this election has been characterised by violence, nobody can justifiably say so. Yes, a few isolated cases but all of the things we saw were significant departures from the past. (tramadol)

“For this, I believe this country has every reason to be thankful to the law enforcement agencies because they were effective and they made sure that 98, 99% percent of Nigerians voted in a free environment without fear or any sort of intimidation.”

Speaking further, Shehu said the results of the presidential election came as a shock to many who had declared a winner before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the president-elect.

Shehu argued that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot conspire with INEC to determine the outcome of the presidential election.

He added that the electoral umpire acted within its powers when it transmitted results manually at the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

2023 Presidential Election Remains Worst In Nigeria’s History – Peter Obi

The standard bearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has again described the February 25 presidential election as the worst election in the history of the nation.

Obi said INEC flagrantly abused the 2022 electoral law during the conduct of the election, probably making it the worst election in the country’s existence.

Naija News reports that the former Governor of Anambra State made these known during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday.

Obi added that the chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, failed in his consistent promises that the election was going to be the best thing that will happen to Nigeria.
