Some Nollywood veterans, young actors, and actresses have, ahead of Saturday, March 18th gubernatorial elections, publicly declared their support for the re-election of the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Naija News reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu is seeking re-election on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

There are impressions lately that Sanwo-Olu desperately wants to return to power, and that may have triggered his recent actions in the state.

The Lagos State governor was recently seen at a Christian worship centre in the state shaking hands with Church attendants, in what many have described as a strategy to win the heart of Lagosians for his political ambition.

Barely a week ago, the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Sanwo-Olu, commenced the release of impounded vehicles to their owners without payment of fines.

Naija News reports that the state Commissioner for Transportation, Frederick Oladeinde, confirmed the development last week Tuesday, noting that the decision was made as a measure to ease the cash crunch on its citizens due to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Naira redesign policy.

In the build-up to a serious battle for votes at the polls against his opponents come Saturday, March 18, Sanwo-Olu is confident of victory as ‘many’ top Nollywood actors have queued up behind him.

Many of the entertainers have made a public endorsement of the incumbent governor before the presidential election while some had just confirmed their interest in the APC candidate lately.

Naija News understands that Sanwo-Olu has scores to settle at the polls having a fierce contest against Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) of the Labour Party and Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (a.k.a Jandor) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who also have the support of members of the entertainment industry.

Recall that the running mate for the PDP candidate, Funke Akindele, is an actress. GRV on the other hand is leveraging on the love for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Below are some of the Nollywood actors and actresses who have come all out for Governor Sanwo-Olu ahead of Saturday’s poll.

Jide Kosoko: Jide Kosoko is the secretary of the Creative Directorate of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council. The veteran actor has not hidden his support for the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, in the just concluded election. Kosoko has since extended the love for the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat ticket for a second term.

Eniola Badmus: The actress was criticized lately for her support for Tinubu during the presidential elections. Despite all, Badmus is still supporting the candidacy of Governor Sanwo-Olu.
