Police Arrests Islamic Cleric, Others With 10 Human Heads, Body Parts In Ibadan
The Oyo State command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of 11 suspected ritualists found with ten human skulls and body parts.
One of the suspects is understood to be an Islamic Cleric. The wife of the self-proclaimed cleric, identified as Amuludun, told security operatives that she only knew her husband as an Islamic cleric and was surprised when the human heads (nine dried skulls and a freshly harvested head) were found in his possession.
According to her, she went to her husband’s office to collect money for foodstuff when the police came and searched the office where the skulls were found.
Naija News learnt that intestines and other human body parts were also found in the suspect’s branded office.
Speaking on the development, spokesman of the command, SP Adewae Osifeso, said on Thursday while briefing journalists that discreet intelligence gathering carried out on February 22 by a police monitoring unit uncovered the criminal activities of the suspects.
Osifeso explained that operatives cracked down on the suspected ritualists who specialized in selling human skulls and other organs for ritual purposes in their hideout at Orita-Aperin area of Ibadan, noting that the 11 members of the criminal gang confessed to the crime upon interrogation.
He further said that the suspects confessed that the dry human skulls were harvested from burial grounds and that the fresh human head and other body organs were harvested from persons after being killed by their kingpin, identified as Amuludun, who was at large.
Further investigation continues on the development, said the police spokesman.
