#NigeriaDecides: Peter Obi Leads Tinubu, Atiku In Benue

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has declared that he doesn’t believe the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom will work for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 elections.

He alleged that Ortom may just be using the public declaration of support for Obi as a tool to get votes and win his own senatorial election.

According to Kalu who spoke on Wednesday during an appearance on The 2023 Verdict, a Channels Television programme, all the G5 Governors would work for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Naija News recalls the G5 is made up of Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

They have insisted they would not work for the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar except the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu steps down and is replaced by a southerner.

Of the five Governors, only Ortom of Benue State has openly declared Peter Obi as his preferred candidate while others are yet to officially declare their candidate.

However, Kalu said he doesn’t believe Ortom will work for Obi, insisting that all the G5 Governors will work for Tinubu.

“The G5 came together and they are working together and I don’t even believe the governor of Benue State, possibly, he just wants to use that (endorsement) to win an election because the G5, from inside sources, have made up their minds that they are not going to work for any other person than Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC,” the senator said.
