Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has rated United midfielder Casemiro higher than Arsenal’s Thomas Partey despite his effort for the Gunners so far this season.

Before United’s vital trip to the Emirates to face the Gunners on Sunday, Rio Ferdinand argued that Casemiro is far better than Thomas Partey using statistics.

While speaking on his Vibe with Five Podcast, Ferdinand said he doesn’t think Partey could fill the same role in Erik ten Hag’s team’s midfield.

‘I think the importance to their teams…you could argue both sides quite equally. But then, when you through the stats in Casemiro wipe him away,’ the former Manchester United defender said.

On whether Partey can replace Casemiro in Erik ten Hag’s team, the ex-England international said: “No, no no. I don’t think Partey is good enough defensively to do what Casemiro is doing.

“I don’t think he has the impact defensively for Man United, on the ball he’s doing more.”

Casemiro has made more tackles (46), 12 more than Partey, and more chances (14 vs. 13), according to Opta.

The Arsenal star, though, has 116 times—28 more than Casemiro—won possession, and also passes more accurately and more frequently to help his team advance play.

After joining United for £70 million from Real Madrid in the summer, Casemiro has been a star performer for the team under Erik ten Hag.

The 30-year-old Brazilian star has made 27 appearances for the Red Devils this season and has significantly impacted midfield with his five assists and two goals.

With the Gunners winning 15 of their first 18 Premier League games, Partey has also played a key role in Arsenal’s outstanding first half of the season.

As Arsenal looks to widen its eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League, both Casemiro and Partey will have another chance to shine as the teams square off for the second time this season.

But if Casemiro receives a booking when United plays Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tonight (21:00), the Brazilian will miss the crucial match at the Emirates this weekend.
