Cristiano Ronaldo signs a gigantic contract with Saudi side Al-Nassr

Don’t be surprised when you see Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Premier League once again 6 months after signing a mega deal with Saudi club, Al-Nassr.

There is a clause in the contract between Al-Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo that permits him to join Premier League club Newcastle United if the club finishes in a UEFA Champions League spot at the end of this season.

Note that Newcastle is owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the same entity that owns most of Al-Nassr’s shares. Hence, the swift switch from the Saudi league to the Premier League is very easy for Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo May Return To The Premier League This Summer

Recall that Ronaldo reportedly tried to leave Manchester United ahead of the 2022-2023 season when the club failed to qualify for this season’s Champions League. His major drive then was to play for a club participating in the elite European club competition.

Unfortunately, he failed to leave Old Trafford and ended up playing in the Europa League.

After coach Erik ten Hag benched him for most games at Old Trafford, he decided to grant Piers Morgan an explosive interview in which he blasted United and the Dutch coach. The interview forced United to let him go in November 2022.

Afterward, Ronaldo waited for another elite club to sign him but that didn’t happen which forced him to accept Al-Nassr’s 2-and-half-year deal worth over 200 million euros.

According to a Spanish publication, Marca, there is a clause in Ronaldo’s deal which permits the 37-year-old Portuguese star to join Newcastle United this summer if the club finishes in the top four.

Newcastle United who are enjoying massive funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are currently sitting in the 3rd spot on the league table with 34 points in 17 games.

This means that the tendency of Newcastle to finish in the top four this season is very high and the possibility of seeing Cristiano Ronaldo in the Premier League once again is also high. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
