Police Declare 24-hour Curfew In Kano After Tribunal Judgment

The Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police Force has been thrown into confusion as unknown gunmen kidnapped its personnel in broad daylight.

Naija News understands that there are controversies over the number of police officers whisked away in the attack.

A police source who spoke with The PUNCH claimed that three officers were kidnapped by the assailants on Thursday at Wasinmi, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

Preliminary reports on the incident show that the kidnapped cops had just arrived in Ogun State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation.

They were said to have been duly booked at the police division in Wasinmi before they left for their place of primary assignment the following day.

However, the officers led by Inspector Oladipo Olayemi were kidnapped on the road by their abductors, who allegedly accosted them at about 2:30 pm.

The source further said the commercial driver who conveyed the cops was lucky to escape the scene by a whisker from the kidnappers.

The development, Naija News learned has raised eyebrows at the force command as the Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro had led his men in search of the missing policemen.

When contacted, the Ogun State Police Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi told reporters that truly, there was a kidnapping incident, but insisted that only one policeman is involved.

Oyeyemi added that the police are on the kidnappers’ trail, assuring the victims would be rescued.

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt,” he said.

He added that men of the anti-kidnapping unit are on the kidnappers’ trail.
