The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and former Anambra State, Peter Obi, on Sunday paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Naija News reports that Peter Obi, alongside his running mate, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, and the national chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure, met with Obasanjo.

Photos from the meeting were shared on the microblogging platform Twitter by a former governorship candidate in Anambra, Oseloka Obaze.

Meanwhile, Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Peter Obi from contesting the 2023 election.

This comes after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filed a suit seeking the disqualification of Obi and Bola Tinubu, citing alleged illegal substitution of running mate

In a post shared on Twitter, Ahmad claimed that the former Anambra State Governor’s name isn’t on the party’s membership list submitted to INEC.

According to Ahmed, LP submitted its membership list to INEC on 25th April, while Obi joined the party on 26th May 2022.

He tweeted: “In line with EA2022, the INEC should disqualify the LP presidential candidate from contesting the 2023 election.

“The candidate isn’t on the party’s membership list submitted to the electoral body. The list was submitted on April 25, while the candidate joined the party on May 26.
