2022 Children's Day: Nigerian Children Deserve Safe Country - Buhari

Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Kingsley Moghalu has reacted after President Muhammadu Buhari replaced Mr. Chukwuyere N. Anamekwe as the acting Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) over allegations of corruption.

Recall as earlier reported by Naija News, Anamekwe was replaced by Sylva Okolieaboh, a director at the Treasury Single Account (TSA) department, as acting accountant-general of the federation over allegations of corruption and investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (INEC) hanging around his neck.

This comes shortly after Anamekwe was appointed in an acting capacity following Ahmed Idris’s suspension after his embroilment in an N80 billion fraud case which led to his subsequent arrest by the EFCC on allegations of money laundering through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja.

His replacement, Anamekwe who was appointed in May 2022, however, is also reportedly under EFCC investigation for fraud and also some other reports have that his unauthorized revelation that the government was borrowing to pay salaries landed him in more trouble.

Reacting to the development, the 2023 presidential aspirant, via his Twitter account on Tuesday said “Accountant-General of the Federation accused of N80 billion fraud. Removed (but not prosecuted and jailed if guilty). Acting AGF for a few weeks (only!) now fired on allegations of fraud. Over 20 people now jostling to become AGF (or Acting AGF!) . Chai. Wahala dey for Naija!”
