Ekiti State Governor, Olukayode Fayemi has withdrawn from the 2023 presidential race and stepped down for All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Having praised President Muhammadu Buhari, APC governors from the Northern region and party stakeholders, Fayemi said Tinubu who he described as his elder brother is a man he respects and believes will lead the country well.

The Ekiti governor said he has worked alongside the presidential aspirant, and he and his supporters will give Tinubu the full support he deserved to succeed President Buhari.

Fayemi announced his withdrawal during the party’s national convention and presidential primaries in Abuja on Tuesday, Naija News reports.

According to Fayemi, his decision was to ensure that a Southerner won the 2023 presidential election.
