Niger Delta Militants have asked the All Progressive Congress, APC to give its 2023 presidential ticket to Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

The group promised to drop their arms if their demand is met by the ruling party

The gun-wielding men made their demands known in a viral video clip posted on the internet.

Naija News reports that Emefiele picked up the presidential nomination and expression of interest form of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday (today).

The economists picked the N100 million forms from the party’s organising secretary at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja on Friday morning.

The purchase of the APC presidential form by Emefiele ends speculations that he is plotting to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

Naija News reports that the Delta-born banker becomes the first central bank governor to seek an elective position while in office.

The Niger Delta Militants, however, in a barely three minutes video clip seen by Naija News, said though the group doesn’t have any affiliation with Emefiele, it observed that the economists will do better in governance than other aspirants in the APC.

The group said it is important to state clearly that they are not a force against the federal government, nor is it a separatist movement.

The militants added that they have decided to join the politicking process as they are already tired of the recycling politicians in the system.

The group reiterated that they have ran a background check and found out that ‘the gentle-looking man (Emefiele)’ is not a politician but would be a man of his word.
