Pa Fasoranti Steps Down As Afenifere Leader, Names Acting Leader

The National Leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti has stepped down from the position.

95-year-old Fasoranti cited old age as the reason for his stepping down, noting that the group needs a vibrant and active person to drive it.

He thereafter named former deputy leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo as the acting national leader of the group while the former financial secretary, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Alaago of Kajola Ago, Atakumosa East council area, Ilesa, Osun state was named the group’s deputy leader.

He said: “the group needs more than ever before to have an improved organisation with a more effective approach to combat the monstrous invasion of our culture and pride as a people. “Only a more alike and active leadership can achieve this.

“At 95 I am hardly able to provide such and so it is time for me to step aside.

“At this junction, I am proud to announce Chief Ayo Adebanjo a politician of the Awolowo school of thought as Acting leader of Afenifere and His Royal Highness, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Alaago of Kajola Ago in Atakumosa East Local Government Area, as the Deputy Leader.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, warned that there is no land in the Southern parts of Nigeria for Fulani herdsmen settlements.

In a statement by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, Nnamdi Kanu warned any governor, traditional ruler, or President General of any community against giving any land to herdsmen.

He stated that any leader who cedes any space, including for financial reasons to Fulani herdsmen, is ultimately calling for the death of their people.

A statement by Powerful reads in part: “IPOB has made it abundantly clear that we have no land for Fulani herdsmen settlement in Biafra land, the North have more space than the South, especially the South East.
