Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff General Tukur Buratai has arrived in Kankara where a number of high school students were abducted.

The Katsina government says 333 students of the missing students remain unaccounted for.

Records say General Buratai met with the military to launch an investigation to find the abducted students on Friday.

He also met students who had found their way out of the bush and returned home.

The Chief of Army Staff has left for Kankara with a delegation from the Federal Government comprising retired Defense Minister General Salihi Magashi and the Presidential Security Adviser.

A spokesman for the Nigerian president, Malam Garba Shehu, told the BBC that many children had fled with only 10 remaining in the hands of gunmen.

He said security forces had cordoned off the area of Kankara thinking the gunmen were kidnapping the abducted children.
