Nigerian Stocks Continues To Experience Sharp Declines As Investors Take Profit

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued its bullish run on Wednesday as the NSE All-Share Index gained 1.25 percent to settle at 34,769.00 index points.

Market capitalisation rose by N224.90 billion to close at N17.94 trillion, pushing year to date return to 29.19 percent.

Investors traded a total volume of 434.9 million units of shares valued at N6.91 billion in 7,029 deals during the trading hours of Wednesday.

Transcorp led the most traded stocks by volume with 84.4 million shares. However, Zenith Bank once again led by value with N6.91 billion.

Activity across the bourse was positive as Banking, Industrial, Insurance and Consumer Goods Indexes advanced by 1.59 percent, 1.58 percent, 1.38 percent and 0.74 percent, respectively.

NSE Oil and Gas Index closed by -0.56 percent, largely due to -6.55 percent decline in OANDO.
