A bill seeking to legalize the use of cannabis leaves in health research and scientific studies is before the House of Representatives.

According to Vanguard, the resolution was tabled by Honorable Princess Miriam Onuoha representing Okigwe North.

Currently, this resolution presented by Miriam Onuoha has passed the second reading stage.

A legal expert, Dr. Tonye Jaja Clinton made the announcement at a press conference hosted by Grow Cann Africa.

Speaking in Abuja, Tonye Jaja Clinton described the benefits of cannabis cultivation and the benefits of cannabis oil.

Grow CANN Africa is working to ensure that Nigeria utilizes its God-given cannabis potential, which could bring in $10 billion by 2020.

The chairman of the group, Uju Adaku, explained how profits can be made if foreigners are given the opportunity to grow and operate cannabis.

As a result, the group has had meetings with the Nigeria High Commissioner to Canada, Canadian High Commissioner in Nigeria, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC as well as the Federal Ministry of Agriculture

Adaku said Grow CANN Africa is committed to consuming cannabis in Nigeria in a positive way. The law prohibits the use of cannabis because of its printing.

Jaja said that if the bill is approved by the House of Representatives, it will go before the senators and then be submitted to the president’s table for assent into law.
