A large crowd of supporters on Saturday, stormed the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship election campaign rally in Ondo State as the party officially kicked off its election bid.

The MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure, venue of the rally also witnessed several PDP Governors and chieftains who were on ground to support the party’s governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.

Present at the political rally were the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was represented by Segun Sowunmi.

Other dignitaries present at the PDP flag-off included the Senator representing Ekiti South, Abiodun Olujimi, and the PDP State Chairman, Fatai Adams.

“They (APC) said you should vote them because they want Presidency to come to Yoruba land,” Makinde said during his speech, which was, as much of the rally, punctuated by short bursts of political music.

“This election is not about the presidency to Yoruba land. This election is about delivering Eyitayo Jegede and putting Ondo state as part of the states that will lead the charge to restructure Nigeria,” Makinde told supporters at the rally.

Naija News reports the Ondo State governorship election is scheduled to hold on November 10, 2020.
