In a groundbreaking event, the highly anticipated Q-Hackathon brought together talented developers, data scientists, product designers, and AI enthusiasts from around Africa as they showcased innovative solutions addressing various challenges plaguing the continent. The hackathon which was powered by Qomodo Systems Limited was hosted on April 16, 2020, virtually on Google Meet and had an expert panel that assessed the works of the Tech Talent participants. 

In a COVID-19 year where businesses were shut down, The Q-Hackathon witnessed a flurry of creativity and collaboration as teams explored the potential of solutions across various domains. From healthcare to finance, education to customer service. The applications developed and presented, showcased the versatility of technology in addressing real-world challenges.

One standout project utilized technology to revolutionize customer support in the e-commerce industry. By integrating cutting-edge solutions into their platform, the team developed an AI-powered chatbot that provided human-like responses, enhancing the customer experience and streamlining support processes.

Another team focused on leveraging technology capabilities in the healthcare sector. They developed a virtual medical assistant that could understand and respond to patient queries, providing accurate information and guidance. This innovation has the potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery, especially in remote areas with limited access to medical professionals. The Q-Hackathon not only highlighted the immense potential of technology but also showcased the dedication and ingenuity of the participants. Their ability to harness the power of AI and apply it to real-world problems was truly remarkable.

One of the expert panels that assessed the work of the participants, Mayowa Adegunwa expressed her enthusiasm for the future of technology in the continent. 

“What I have witnessed today is exciting and makes the future of Africa compelling and believable. Everyone gave their all, even those who did not win. For me, it was a privilege to judge other creatives like me to develop and present homegrown solutions to local and global challenges. It is my desire that they continue to build solutions and export them globally. With what I have judged today, the future of Africa is exciting. I am grateful to Qomodo System for the opportunity to be part of this history-making hackathon,” she said.

As the event concluded, the organizers expressed their excitement about the future possibilities of tech and its impact on various industries. They emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and innovation to further enhance the capabilities of tech and unlock its full potential. The Q-Hackthon has 50 participants and seven judges who assessed the work of the participants.
