Kogi Guber: Igala Paramount Ruler Refuses To Endorse PDP's Dino Melaye

The senator representing Kogi West at the Nigerian Senate, Senator Dino Melaye, has rejected the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election.

Senator Melaye, whose senatorial election was recently nullified by the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly election petition tribunal, contested the primary election alongside other candidates.

Naija News reports that the election which took place on Wednesday, September 2, saw Musa Wada emerge as the candidate of the PDP for the November 16 governorship election.

This online news platform understands that Engineer Wada scored 748 votes to clinch the party ticket.

Musa Wada, a younger brother of the immediate past Governor Idris Wada, was closely followed by Abubakar Mohammed Ibrahim, the son of a former governor, Ibrahim Idris (Ibro), who polled 710 votes.

On the other hand, Senator Melaye pitiably‘ pulled 70 votes to emerge fourth while the immediate past governor of the state, Capt. Wada came third with 345 votes.

Apparently displeased with the results, Senator Melaye took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to rant, rejecting the results in the process.

Senator Melaye described the declaration of the final result of PDP Governorship primary election in Kogi State as “ridiculous”, stressing alleging that his votes sorted out yesterday (Tuesday) in 8 out of 10 ballot boxes are missing.

His words: “It is ridiculous to declare a final result of PDP Governorship primary election in Kogi State when my votes sorted out yesterday in 8 out of 10 ballot boxes are missing.

“Only to declare votes in 2 out of 10 ballot boxes as my votes. Totally unacceptable,” Senator Melaye added.
