Rivers State government has clarified that it has no interest in the Federal Government’s Ruga settlements for herdsmen.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Paulinus Nsirim, today made this known in a statement.
Nsirim said the state does not have land for the implementation of such policy.
He mentioned also that one of the major priorities of Governor Nyesom Wike was commercial agriculture, during his second term in office.
Nsirim, therefore, stated that the available lands would be used for this purpose across the state so as to create employment for Rivers youths.
The state government emphasized that it had not given any approval for the citing of Ruga settlements anywhere in Rivers and don’t intend to in future.
