Tambuwal Reelected As PDP Wins Sokoto Rerun

Governor Aminu Tambuwal, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has been reelected as the governor of Sokoto state, northern Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the nation’s main opposition party polled 512,002 votes in total to defeat the APC’s Ahmad Aliyu who got 511,661.

The total results, this online news platform understands is a combination of the March 9 governorship election and the supplementary election conducted on Saturday, March 23 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Meanwhile, Tambuwal had a narrow escape as the final election result shows that the PDP defeated APC with just a difference of 341 votes.
