₦2.9bn Fraud Case: EFCC Yet To Serve Okorocha - Aide Claims

The 2019 collation of results for the gubernatorial election in Imo state which was conducted on 9th March, 2019 has come to a rude end as the Peoples Democratic Party agent tore result sheets.

Trouble began when PDP agent,Uche Onyeaguocha, insisted that the result of Ideato South LGA would not be announced.

According to him, Gov. Rochas Okorocha, the state’s governor, chased every agent and wrote result for his preferred candidate.

However, other parties protested that the result must be announced as they had also protested when the result of Aboh Mbaise LGA was to be announced but was ignored.

Francis Otunta, the state returning officer after inquiries asked that the result is announced, but the PDP returning officer took the result sheet from the table and tore it.

In swift retaliation, another party agent rushed to the high table and tore result sheets of other LGAs that had earlier been collated.

As the situation escalated, party agents, electoral officials, including the returning officer, ran away from the centre.

The policemen on duty quickly arrested the two contending agents leading to the collation process to come to an abrupt end.
