As the governorship election draws closer, the o to gee mantra in Kwara state seems to have attracted more party lovers with the defection of fifteen serving councillors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Naija News understand the defection comes as expected with the aftermath of the PDP’s failure in the recently concluded presidential elections in the state and a major defeat of a political Godfather (Abubakar Bukola Saraki) in the state.
The Councilors, who are from Moro and Ilorin South Local Government Areas, said they are defecting as the people they represent have decided to pitch their tent with the APC.
Answering questions from journalists after meeting with APC leaders in Ilorin, representatives of the councillors said they were elected on the platform of the APC before their defection to the PDP and that now they have only decided to return to their original political party.
One of the APC leaders in the state, Alimi Abdulrahman, who received the decampees, described the move by the grassroots representatives as a welcome development that will enhance good governance and the fortunes of the APC in Kwara State.
Kwara State has one hundred and ninety-three councillors representing the one hundred and ninety-three wards in the state.
